Light of the World Academy

Light of the World Academy

Quality Education in a Christian Environment
Light of the World Academy is a Christian school, reaching families of young children through the age of 6 years (Preschool through Transition/Reception) and expanding in the near future to Primary school levels. The School of Tomorrow Curriculum is used and is highly effective in preparing children to learn to read. Preschool is often a child’s first experience away from home, and our desire is that this first school exposure is a positive one – creating a hunger for learning throughout their educational experience.

Overview of Curriculum

Young Preschool Children are introduced to colours and numbers in the form of play, song and poems to begin their academic development. They develop physically through fine and gross motor skill activities such as hopping, putting together puzzles, building with blocks and throwing a ball. Great strides occur in their social development as they learn about the people around them (Me, My Family, My School). They learn to consider one another, listen to their teacher and share.

Intermediate Preschool Children continue to advance in their academics, physical development and social skills, with the added introduction of letters and letter sounds. This is in preparation for their final year of preschool, transition.

Transition Children gain a comprehensive understanding of each letter sound using physical activities, entertaining stories and creative craft projects to reinforce each letter sound. They graduate from this level well equipped to begin the amazing world of reading!

• A Full Day Programme is available as well. Children are served a nutritious hot lunch after school and a healthy snack in the afternoon. Naptime is followed by learning activities, crafts, story, song and dance, and before they know it, it’s time to get ready to go home. Students may enroll part-time or as full-time full day students (see “Fees and Tuition”).
